IF there is a Transmission dipstick for a 1997 Oldsmobile Aurora, where is it located?

trying to help friend over phone in another state; here '97 Olds aurora will not shift at all, my first suggestion was for her to check for fluid or lack thereof but she can't locate it. Thanks in advance for your help.|||usually the dipstick is closer to the firewall, may not be easy to see|||it has the 4L80E transmission in it. left side of car near the brake master cylinder under some of the other parts to the car you will see the cap that's where you check the fluid un screw it and check. 2000 and up has the 4T65E and that has a dip stick against the fire wall|||its on the drivers side and torward the firewall... sometimes its red and sometimes it is white. check it in neutral or park with the car running. if it doesnt move at all run it thru the gears with the foot on the brake. then put it in neutral on a flat surface. check it multiple times because it might run down the stick and be off. ALSO wipe it off on a clean rag and see what kind fluid is on there and how it smells.. if it smells burnt have someone look deeper into it. hope this helps =)|||i believe is behind the motor tell her to look for a red thingy to grab onto

make sure she checkes the level of it while the car is running and in park/neutral otherwise you wont get a accurate reading
