My husband and I are planning on starting a family at some point and I like the name Aurora. I just was wondering if it is too weird or out there for a child to have to deal with.|||I really like it. It is sophisticated for a woman, and the nickname 'Rory' is cute for a little girl.
I also don't think that this name will date a child to a certain era. Many names in the past such as Jennifer, are able to be dated to a certain decade, whereas Aurora will never be a name that is considered as outdated.
It's meaning of 'Dawn' is beautiful as well, particularly if both parents prefer Dawn to Sunset etc.
I do think you might encounter some pronounciation problems with this name. Also, depending on where you live, it may be pronounced differently. To combat this problem, may I suggest the name Aurelia instead? I think it is generally an easier name for people to say, and probably more common as well.
I think that it is a unique name, and it will definetely stand out in the crowd amongst all of the children named Ashlee, Ava or Emily.
I think however, that it may be a good idea for you to give your child a more common middle name. If your child doesn't like the idea of having a unique name, she may like the idea of having a middle name to fall back on. I think Aurora Josephine is a gorgeous combination.|||cute name...but several pornstars have used it.|||I know 3 people named Aurora and I think it's a beautiful name. The only problem I would see with it is if your husband doesn't like it, but if it's a name you both like, go for it.|||I went to school with a girl named Aurora. They called her "Rory". Not bad, unless you had trouble with pronouncing "r's". Then it sounded awful. You wouldn't believe how many people have that trouble.|||I think Aurora is a beautiful name, and don't think it will cause a problem, It sounds special.|||I would reconsider. I think of the pornstar Aurora Snow. Although she is gorgeous, you probably dont want people thinking about that when they hear your daughters name.|||not at all...i dont know how familiar you are with disney but sleeping beauties name is Aurora ...who was secretly a princess!...It is a beautiful name.|||i really like it. but i think it would be hard to shorten or get any endearing nick names from though. all im coming up with is hey orr, or hey ra, or hey ra ra. not really working is it?|||no its like a hispanic name its really pretty and its not common|||No it is not weird, but you know they had a car called that just a few years ago.|||I knew a girl named aurora, her and her mom both got beat up by the same girl in the same day, but its not a bad name.|||no i was going to name my daughter that but i had 2 boys|||We were going to name our daughter that, but hubby couldn't spell it...... LOL
He liked Aurora Borealis. We settled for Emily Elizabeth!|||Absolutely not. It's a beautiful name. Has a lot of meaning too. Much better than some other "choice" names I've heard out there.|||No. Most women named Aurora that I know are of Hispanic or Philipino decent.|||I think it's beautiful, and don't worry about what others think of the name you choose. If you do that you'll never find a name that everyone agrees with. My husband and I chose our boy and girl baby name the week we found out we were going to have a baby. We never told a soul until he was born...there was no complaining or opinions from anyone...it was wonderful, and fun!
Good luck!|||No, I think it is cute and unique. Just think that not many little girls will have that name so your future daughter will be distinguishable from all the little girls named Ashley,or whatever names that people deem really popular now.|||No, I knew a girl with that name and they called her Rory. It's a pretty name.|||No, I think if you like it, then it is your decision. I personally think it's cute %26amp; not as common as a lot of other names. True your child may not end up liking it, but you take that chance with a name like Ashley or Sarah too. It's the parents choice for the child's name.|||I guess not...|||I think that name is pretty. It makes me think of a Southern girl and also reminds me of Sleeping Beauty, remember? Princess Aurora. I also went to high school with an Aurora and she went by "Rori".|||I think it's pretty. It's unusual enough not to be common but not so extreme that people will have a hard time spelling it or pronouncing it.|||I like its pretty and not that common|||I like it, its a very unique name.
Ignore the ones who refered to the porn star having that name, no one is going to look at your baby and go "OMG she's named after this chick I seen in an XXX film!"|||It starts out sounding pretty but it also comes out sounding like:
A ROARER too. You have to be careful not to give your daughter a name that kids can mess with - they can be so cruel. A friend has a daughter named Sonora which, again, starts out sounding pretty until the other kids called her SNORER.|||nope it is a pretty cool name!|||no. a girl in my school is name aurora and she doesn't get picked on at all. and i really like that name.|||name him/her what ever you like.why you worry about others. people will accept anything after getting use to it. only thing you should like that name|||I think that is a beautiful name.|||PLEASE DONT NAME A CHILD THAT! she would get teased forever! its really corny!
