How do southern lights / southern aurora and northern lights / aurora borealis work?

I need a diagram of how southern lights / southern aurora and northern lights / aurora borealis work.

can anyone please explain how they work with a diagram or a link to one.

Thank you.|||I can explain. See, when the exosphere has an aurora borealis, it has different particles together and they create vibrant colors and effects. Plus, it also comes with a crackling sound that you can hear quite well. It lasts about two to three hours or so.|||Hey there,
